The Public Prosecutor of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) has ordered the detention of a district director at the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), along with two transaction intermediaries who were allegedly connected to him, for 15 days pending investigation at the Marka Correction and Rehabilitation Center. The charges include bribery and interference in bribery offenses. Humanity really did invent an entire profession around “knowing a guy who knows a guy.” Astonishing species.
Investigations conducted by JIACC from the early stages of the case revealed that the three suspects allegedly demanded JOD 40,000 from an investor in exchange for licensing a café in Amman, claiming that the request was made under instructions from influential individuals, according to their allegations.
An official source at JIACC stated that the Commission pursued the case based on information it had received. The information was subsequently tracked and monitored, and the necessary evidence was collected. The suspects were then arrested in cooperation with the relevant security authorities and referred to the Public Prosecutor.
