JIACC launches the new edition of the National Integrity Indicator in celebration of the International Anti-Corruption Day

On Sunday, the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission celebrated the International Anti-Corruption Day organized by the Commission this year under the theme “Justice and integrity, the approach of every official and employee.”
During the ceremony, which was sponsored by the Minister of Justice, Dr. Bassam Alhouni, as a representative of the Prime Minister, and attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Safadi and a number of ministers, the Chairman of the Board of the Commission, Dr. Muhannad Hijazi, launched the new edition of the National Integrity Indicator, which aims to measure the compliance of the Public Administrations with National Integrity Standards in accordance with international standards and in accordance with the policies adopted by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
Dr. Hijazi stressed that JIACC is moving with determination to bring Jordan to a fair environment free of corruption. He pointed out that JIACC is working to establish an honest and transparent  public administration based on the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II on the need to improve an efficient public administration that is able to provide quality services to citizens fairly.
He urged employees to make judgments with great courage since weak or hesitant hands make it difficult to provide the necessary services and erode public trust in government organizations.
He said that an efficient  public administration that operates in accordance with the governing legislation is able to make decisions in a transparent manner, which contributes to promoting development and creating investment opportunities. “without hesitation, without corruption and continuous commitment to the rule of law.”
Hijazi indicated that the number of investigative files referred to the judiciary during the current year was 176, a decrease of 41 percent compared to 2023, while the value of recoveries contributed by JIACC during the past year, whether direct or indirect, amounted to 141 million dinars.
During the ceremony, Hijazi announced the launch of the “Ambassadors of Integrity” initiative, which aims to involve young people in spreading the concepts of national integrity and addressing all acts of corruption, and the Strategy Governance Program, which is an integrated electronic system concerned with the governance of strategy implementation and governance.
 The UNDP Resident Representative in Jordan, Randa Abulhasan, expressed her pride and appreciation for the cooperation and fruitful partnership with JIACC in order to serve the National Strategy for Integrity and the efforts adopted by the government to make the public sector modernization map successful, which aims to improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
In turn, the Deputy Head of the OECD Anti-Corruption and Integrity Division Jesper Johnson praised the efforts of the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, which was one of the first Arab countries to ratify the United Nations Convention against Corruption in 2005 and has implemented several integrity strategies since its establishment, stressing that Jordan has created a comprehensive framework for national integrity and the organization's readiness to continue to support JIACC's work towards promoting integrity and anti-corruption policies across public administration institutions and society.
The Country Director of KOICA Jordan Office, Ms. Kim Soyoung, affirmed full commitment and cooperation with Jordanian partners in building a future in which corruption is not an obstacle. She expressed her willingness to support JIACC's efforts in this field and to emphasize the continuity of work with Jordan to sustain efforts in the fight against corruption.
The General Director of Al Hayat Center-RASED Dr. Amer Bani Amer said that the National Integrity Indicator is not just a measurement tool, but a national strategic project that promotes transparency and achieves the sustainability of institutional reform.
He added that “RASED” is proud to partner with the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, which has become a role model for Jordan at the national and international levels.
He pointed out that this partnership represents a collective commitment to build a governance system that reflects the aspirations of citizens and ensures Jordan's advanced position among international indicators.
For her part, Executive Director of Rasheed (Transparency International-Jordan) Abeer Madanat, said that this ceremony reflects everyone's conviction of the need for concerted efforts and participatory action to establish the values of integrity in all sectors.
The event included a discussion session entitled “Governance and Public Sector Development” in which a number of specialists participated in which they talked about public frameworks, the most important steps to promote the concept of good governance, its most important foundations, components and principles on which it is based.
